NC State’s Shnaider, Florida State’s Bissett, Notre Dame’s Pozder earn ACC Women’s Tennis Weekly Awards

GREENSBORO, NC (theACC.com) – NC State’s Diana Shnaider earned Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Week honors, while Florida State’s Millie Bissett and Notre Dame’s Bojana Pozder shared ACC Women’s Tennis of the Week honors.

Shnaider helped raise then-No. 9 NC State 4-3 upset No. 2 Ohio State. The freshman ranked 52nd in the country beat 22nd ranked Sydni Ratliff in three sets 7-5, 4-6, 7-6 (7-3) in the singles game. He also handed the No. 1 duo of Ratliff and Irina Cantos Siemers a loss at the No. 1 doubles spot in tiebreak fashion, 7-6 (7-1). This is Shnaiders third weekly honor this season and second in a row. With the win, NC State is now ranked fourth in the nation.

Bissett had four wins for Florida State against Syracuse and Boston College, who play at No. 2 doubles and No. 6 singles. His three-set victory, 5-7, 6-2, 6-3, gave the Seminoles a 3-2 lead before the Orange took the match. His dominant 6-1, 6-3 victory in Florida State’s first conference win of the season extended the Seminoles’ 2-0 lead to a 5-2 win.

Pozder went undefeated over the weekend, winning the singles match against No. 30 Georgia Tech in two sets, 6-3, 6-2. The Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin, native added two doubles to his resume against Georgia Tech and Notre Dame’s 4-1 win over No. 29 Clemson.
