SEATTLE Washington Beach Volleyball moved up to No. 16 in the AVCA polls after a successful opening weekend at FSU. This weekend, the Huskies will head to Los Angeles, California for the Pac-12 South Invitational, where they will face their conference opponents for the first time this season. The Pac-12 South Invitational will be held this Saturday and Sunday the 4th-5th. March, hosted by 2022 National Champions USC and 2019 National Champions UCLA. The Dawgs have a tough weekend ahead of them with four schools ranked in the top 20. The first three games will be played at USC’s Merle Normal Stadium and the final game will be played at UCLA’s Mapes Beach.

Washington plays twice on Saturday and twice on Sunday. On Saturday, the Huskies open with No. 17 Arizona at 10:00 a.m. PT and then face No. 7 Stanford at 12:00 p.m. PT. The following day, the Huskies will face No. 4 USC at 10 a.m. Pacific and Oregon at 2 p.m. Pacific.

First up for the Huskies are the Arizona Wildcats, who were ranked No. 18 in the 2022 season and are currently ranked No. 17. The Wildcats started the 2023 season 4-0 after facing UTEP, Oregon, Colorado Mesa and Boise State. opening weekend. The Wildcat roster is an experienced group with a total of 10 seniors and returning No. 1 pairing Alex Parkhurst and Alana Rennie.

The Huskies will then face Stanford, currently ranked No. 7 in the AVCA poll. The Cardinal started the season 4-2, losing twice to No. 1 UCLA, but also beat No. 9 Hawaii. Some of Stanford’s returners include Charlie Ekstrom and Kate Reilly, who earned sixth place at the AVCA Fall National Championships.

Next up are the reigning national champions USC Trojans. The Trojans are currently ranked No. 4 in the AVCA standings after defeating No. 6 GCU and No. 14 Long Beach State in their opening weekend. While this group graduated some notable alumni, they still return Megan Kraft and Nicole Nourse, who were both part of the starting lineup for the 2022 championships.

Finally, the Huskies will face the Oregon Ducks to close out the weekend. The Ducks started the season 1-4, losing to Arizona State, No. 18 Arizona and Boise State.
