Is there football this weekend? TV show, start times and more

The XFL has given football fans a reason to turn on their televisions during the NFL offseason. But due to the random schedule, with some games played during the week while others are spread out over the weekend, fans are left scrambling to find when their favorite teams are on TV.

Are there any XFL games today? What does the weekend schedule of the playing teams look like, and how can you follow each match? Let’s dive into every XFL game this weekend!

Seattle Sea Dragons (0-2) at Vegas Vipers (0-2)

The only XFL game today is between the Seattle Sea Dragons and the Vegas Vipers. Both teams are still looking for their first wins of the young season, which may cause hesitation to follow two undefeated teams. But don’t let their record fool you. The Sea Dragons and Vipers have two of the most explosive offenses in the XFL and have simply been unlucky in their first few games.

Seattle has lost its first two games by a combined six points. Former Dallas Cowboy Ben DiNucci has been admirable this season, throwing for 478 yards and three touchdowns. Problem? He has struggled with ball security. If the team can fix this little problem, they can easily put themselves back in the upper echelon of XFL teams.

PFN Betting Director BJ Rudell broke down the Vipers vs. Sea Dragons earlier this week. With the Sea Dragons dropping three points, sportsbooks clearly believe they should be able to right the ship this week.

I think as much as Seattle has underperformed in the win column, Vegas has performed as expected. Despite playing at home, the Vipers are underdogs for many compelling reasons. They will have to play their best football of the season and Seattle will have to play their worst to finish. I don’t see that happening.

St. Louis Battlehawks (2-0) at DC Defenders (2-0)

For the first time, three XFL games will be televised on Sunday. The triple-header begins with a showdown between two undefeated teams, the St. Louis Battlehawks and the DC Defenders. The defenders are the home team here and that will likely play a big role in deciding the winner.

The Battlehawks have won two plays out of the fourth quarter, game-winning drives thanks to the outstanding play of QB AJ McCarron. If McCarron figures out how to be the same player he is near the end of the game throughout the contest, St. Louis should be the favorite to win the XFL Championship.

That’s a big if, though. This week will be a good test as he faces a decent Defenders defense.

DC is a two-point home favorite in this game, and Defenders vs. Battlehawks betting had Rudell on the away team.

The linebackers have zero interceptions so far, but have only collected five sacks. Can they pressure McCarron more than San Antonio or Seattle? Will the Blackhawks’ superior offense finally be the difference? That’s the big question. And I’m willing to bet the St. Louis offense over the DC defense.

Orlando Guardians (0-2) at Arlington Renegades (1-1)

The Orlando Guardians have been in the news a lot lately, and not for the right reasons. They are easily the worst team in the XFL as they have lost both of their games by double digits. Then last week it was reported that they had cut their QB, Quinten Dormady, because he had shared his playbook with the opposing team.

Now the team gets to hit the road to take on the Arlington Renegades. The Renegades have had their own struggles, especially when it comes to protecting the QB. They’ve allowed eight sacks in two weeks, and their offensive line is easily the worst in the league.

In Rudells Renegades vs. Guardians betting, he broke down the odds and made an interesting argument as to why Orlando might actually be able to cover the big difference.

As rough as Orlandos defense has looked, the Renegades are probably the weakest offense they have faced. Attach eight sacks [Drew] Plitt is absorbed and we can envision a scenario where Arlington does enough to put 15-20 points on the board. It should be enough to win, but not cover.

San Antonio Brahmas (1-1) at Houston Roughnecks (2-0)

In the final football game of the weekend, the San Antonio Brahmas face the Houston Roughnecks.

San Antonio is coming off its best game of the year thanks to an impressive QB performance. Jack Coan was 16-of-24 passing for 165 yards and three touchdowns. However, this Roughnecks defense will be a completely different test.

Meanwhile, Houston looks set to have a perfect year, thanks in part to Wade Phillips’ excellent coaching, especially on the defensive side of the ball.

In his Brahmas vs. Roughnecks betting, Rudell leaned on big favorites covering the spread.

San Antonio is still looking for a consistent running game. Houston apparently has one, at least for now. There’s a decent chance this trend will continue, giving the Roughnecks a strong shot at a 6+ point win.
