Baseball tiebreaker with win at Cal State Fullerton 4-2

FULLERTON, CA – Texas Baseball evened the series with Cal State Fullerton with a 4-2 victory Saturday at Goodwin Field.

The Longhorns (4-6) will look to clinch the series Sunday at 12 noon CT with RHP Travis Stehle promised to start with a hill.

Zane Morehouse started Saturday and went five innings, allowing just one run on four hits. He struck out five batters and picked up his second win of the season to improve to 2-0.

Charlie Hurley was great out of the bullpen, pitching the final four innings and allowing just one run on four hits to pick up his first career save.

Texas took an early 2-0 lead with back-to-back solo home runs in the top of the first inning. Dylan Campbell launched his first home run of the season earlier Porter Brown hit his fourth long ball of the year.

The Titans got a run back in the first inning with a pair from Morehouse to double the Longhorns’ lead to 2-1.

The Longhorns got a run right back in the top of the second with a double Mitchell Daly and Eric Kennedy to 3-1.

Texas grabbed an insurance run in the top of the fourth to take a 4-1 lead. Jack O’Dowd hit a leadoff triple and scored on a wild pitch.

Fullerton scratched home a run in the seventh to cut the Longhorns’ lead to 4-2, using a single, a fielder’s choice and a wild pitch.

Hurley finished the game with back-to-back scoreless innings in the eighth and ninth innings.
