Women’s tennis wins both weekly WCC awards

MALIBU, California For the fourth time this spring and second week in a row, the #7 Pepperdine women’s tennis program has won both West Coast Conference weekly awards. Savannah Broadus was named WCC Player of the Week when he and Janice Earn was chosen as the league’s double team of the week.

#19 Broadus (Carrollton, Texas) had another dominant week in singles. She defeated a pair of foes in Michigan’s then-55 Lily Jones and Oklahoma State’s then-107 Alana Wolfberg to help the Waves to a pair of ranking wins. Malibu. In two ranked matches, Broadus dropped a total of just eight games. The sophomore is now 8-0 this dual season and 21-2 this school year.

Broadus and Tjen (Jakarta, Indonesia) were the nation’s top doubles duo over the weekend, winning two matches, including one against the then-No. 2 doubles team in the nation, to help Pepperdine earn two doubles points and wins over #5 Michigan and #35 Oklahoma State. The pair’s 7-5 win over #2 Jaedan Brown and Kari Miller of Michigan was the duo’s career high. The 2022 ITA All-Americans are now 8-1 combined this dual season and 23-2 overall this school year.

This is Broadus’ second career weekly award in singles, with the first coming on Feb. 14, and the sixth weekly doubles award for the pair dating back to last year. The Waves swept the WCC weekly awards on January 15th, February 14th and February 28th. This is the fourth weekly double award for Broadus and Tjen this spring.

Pepperdine returns to action on Saturday, March 11th when the Waves visit #36 USC. First serving at 12 noon
