Sixth From Bolton business students raise money for Urban Outreach

Youngsters at The Sixth Form Bolton swapped a classroom for a boardroom to raise money for charity.

The students were divided into small groups to plan the event.

They organized various activities among themselves, such as candy booths, table tennis tournaments, a donut shop, and even an escape room.

Pragna Varsani, 17, was part of a group that organized a croissant stall and a ping pong challenge.

The former St James’s CE High School pupil said: “We learned a lot about communicating with each other and how to engage with customers. It was also nice to help raise money for charity.”

So far, budding entrepreneurs have raised a total of £450, with further events continuing throughout the year to raise vital funds for Urban Outreach.

The business course is designed to provide real-life experiences and scenarios that help prepare students for their future careers.

The students created their own marketing and advertising materials.

Michael Kniveton, business teacher at The Sixth Form, said: “We are incredibly proud of all our business students. They showed great tenacity, teamwork and problem-solving skills throughout the process.

Urban Outreach is a Christian charity providing food to households in crisis and person-centred support to the most disadvantaged and disadvantaged adults and young people in Bolton.
