ORLANDO, Fla. Saint John’s tennis suffered its fourth straight loss to Piedmont (Ga.) on Thursday, March 9 at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla.
Junior Ian Aadland (Brainerd, Minn.) and senior Wil McDowell (Sioux Falls, SD/O’Gorman) won SJU’s (2-5, 0-1 MIAC) doubles match at No. 1, 8-4 against the Lions (6-3, 0-0 CCS).
Senior Hunter Fischer (Spicer, Minn./Willmar) won his No. 3 singles match after his opponent retired due to injury in the second set, and the Johnnies prevailed at No. 5-6. Second year student Ryan Will (Northfield, Minn.) won at No. 5 thanks to a 7-3 victory in a second-set tie, while the junior Mark Rosen (Bloomington, Minn./Jefferson) clawed back at No. 6. He dropped the first set 6-3, but won the second 9-7 in a tiebreaker and won the match 10-7 in a super-breaker.
SJU concludes its spring break trip at 8 p.m. ET with a game against Division II Cedarville (Ohio) on Friday, March 10 in Kissimmee, Fla.
