Bowie State releases 2023 football schedule

BOWIE, Md. – Bowie State football has announced its 2023 football schedule, a 10-game schedule featuring eight Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (The CIA) contests, four home games and an FCS opponent. This will be Kyle JacksonFirst official season at the helm of the program since Bowie State dropped the tag on Jan. 23, 2023.

“I’m excited about our 2023 schedule because we’re starting out with a very tough non-conference schedule,” Jackson said. “Opening with an FCS program and a DII program that made the playoffs in 2022 is a good test before conference play begins. As a staff, we’ve worked hard to build and develop a roster that we believe will represent the university. We look forward to starting the season on Sept. 2 at Delaware.”

The Bulldogs open from 2023 with FCS opposition and the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) member for the state of Delaware. BSU and DSU open the season on Saturday, Sept. 2 at Alumni Stadium in Dover, Del. This will be the sixth meeting between the two programs as the Hornets lead the series 4-1.

Bowie State will travel to Grand Rapids, MI to take on Davenport for the first time in program history on September 9th. A member of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC), DU qualified for the NCAA DII playoffs for the first time in program history in 2022. The Panthers finished with an 8-3 overall record and 20th in the finals of the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) DII Coaches Poll last season.
The Bulldogs host Shaw in their home opener on September 16, followed by another home contest with Saint Augustine’s (September 23) at Bulldog Stadium.

BSU then heads south to play Livingstone (Sept. 30) before returning home to Bulldog Stadium. The Bulldogs will host Virginia State in their 2023 home opener on Oct. 7.

In the next two games, Bowie State will travel to Virginia Union (Oct. 14) and recentlyThe CIA member Bluefield state (October 21). The Bulldogs’ last game in October will be at home against Elizabeth City State on the 28thth

Finally, the Bulldogs will head to Pennsylvania looking to extend their winning streak to 12 games against Lincoln (PA) in its regular season finale on November 4th.
