RICHARDSON, Texas – Concordia Texas tennis was in action last week and the Tornados were in action last week as both the men’s and women’s teams went 3-0 in team play. Upperclassmen Stephen Arredondo and Trinity Klamecki were recognized for their contributions as they were both named ASC West Tennis Players of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday. The pair represent the fifth and sixth Tornadoes to be honored by the American Southwest Conference this season.
Arredondo (The Woodlands, Texas) is currently on a six-match winning streak in singles and continued his hot streak with three more wins last week. He only dropped three games in his three matches and also defeated Sul Ross in straight sets. In singles, he made two sweeps. He and Joey Bregman beat Texas Lutheran 8-0 and Schreiner 8-4. Then he allied himself Nico de la pena to the best Sul Rossi 8-0.
Klamecki (Little Elm, Texas) was dominant last week, dropping just two games in three singles matches, including two 6-0, 6-0 sweeps against Texas Lutheran and Sul Ross. In doubles play with Claire Austin, he also went 3-0. They defeated Texas Lutheran 8-3 on Friday and defeated Schreiner 8-7 on Saturday. That was followed by an 8-0 sweep of Sul Rossi on Monday.
