2:05 PM PT — Mercyhurst Univ. just released a new statement on the matter… and it doesn’t appear – at least at the moment – Carson Briere receives a school punishment.

11:54 a.m. PT – Carson Briere has admitted to pushing a wheelchair down the stairs … and said Wednesday he is “deeply sorry for my behavior on Saturday.”

Philadelphia Flyers interim GM Daniel Briere’s son – Mercyhurst Univ. hockey player Carson Briere – has been accused of pushing a woman’s wheelchair down the stairs over the weekend … and now cops say they’re investigating.
The incident was recorded on the bar’s security camera around midnight on Saturday.
In the video, you can see two men walking up the stairs and noticing a wheelchair sitting at the top. One of the men, identified online as Briere and wearing a backwards white hat and dark sweatshirt, then sits on it before attempting to cycle it.
Finally, Briere gets up from the chair – before pushing it down the stairs. He then walks away from the scene.
Twitter user @juliazukowski – who first posted the video – claims the chair was left at the top of the stairs because its owner “had to be physically carried down to use the toilet”. He created a GoFundMe page on Wednesday to raise money for a new chair.
Mercyhurst University said in a statement after the video began circulating on social media that it — and police — have launched an investigation into the matter.
“Late this afternoon, Mercyhurst University became aware of a disturbing video showing one of our student-athletes pushing an empty wheelchair down a flight of stairs at a local facility,” school officials said in a statement Tuesday. “Our Office of Student Conduct and our Police and Security Department are investigating.”
The school did not confirm that Carson Briere was the focus of the investigation … says TMZ Sports on Wednesday morning “We are just beginning our investigation and cannot comment on the process.”
Carson Briere joined the Mercyhurst ice hockey team in 2020. He previously played for the Arizona State ice hockey team, but was kicked off the team after the program said he violated rules.
In three seasons with the Lakers, he has collected 59 points.
His father, 45-year-old Daniel Briere, played 17 seasons in the NHL and was just named the Flyers’ interim GM on Friday. We reached out to the NHL team for comment, but so far have not heard back.
