Quadri Aruna’s brilliant run at the World Table Tennis Singapore Smash has come to an end as he lost 0-4 to Brazil’s Hugo Caldenaro.
In the quarterfinals played on Friday at Infinity Arena, the Nigerian lost (11-7, 12-10, 11-2, 11-2) to Caldenaro.
This concludes the trip to the tournament for Africa’s top player after he earlier beat Japan’s Tomokazu Harimo 3-0 in the round of 16.
The WTT ranked 14th player also beat France’s Alexis Lebrun in the round of 32 and Germany’s Ruwen Filus 3-2 in the round of 64.
This result means that no Africans have been left in the competition as Egypt’s quartet of Omar Assari, Dina Meshref, Hana Goda and Marian Alhodaby were eliminated early.
