Aussie legend Adam Gilchrist tops cricket’s rich list with a whopping $380 MILLION net worth – but there’s a big problem
- Wicketkeeper topped the list of highest earners
- Came before the legendary Sachin Tendulkar
- Ricky Ponting also made it to the rich list
Team swashbuckler Adam Gilchrist has beaten legends of the game Sachin Tendulkar and Ricky Ponting to the top of cricket’s rich list with a net worth of $380 million – but all is not as it seems.
The pecking order of the sport’s biggest millionaires was released this week by World Index, a Twitter account that specializes in top ten lists with more than 470,000 followers.
It put the Australian legend first, well ahead of Tendulkar at $170 million, fellow Indian icon MS Dhoni at $115 million and Ricky Ponting at $75 million – but its creator made a crucial mistake.
The Adam Gilchrist they refer to is the Australian founder of the struggling global fitness empire F45, whose assets are currently facing seizure by creditors chasing $10.8 million in a Federal Court order.

Aussie all-time great Gilchrist (pictured) was forced to make the record straight after his net worth was announced at $380 million.

A list compiled by World Index and posted on Twitter confused the wicketkeeper with another famous Aussie of the same name.
Gilchrist was CEO of the gym chain until he resigned on July 22 when the company suffered a shocking drop in its stock price.
Cricketer Gilchrist set a record on Twitter immediately after the list was published.
“This is a case of mistaken identity folks,” he wrote.
“Unless of course my namesake who founded F45 played cricket, in which case it’s totally accurate #doyurresearch #fakenews #yasafesachin.”
Correcting the error puts Tendulkar at the top of the order.

The long-suffering batter took to Twitter to clear up any confusion – Indian icon Sachin Tendulkar remained the richest cricketer on the planet.
The ‘Little Master’ has extensive property and investment portfolios, a large collection of expensive cars funded by his handsome salary while playing, his pay packet after retiring from the Board of Control for Cricket in India and ambassadorships for major brands such as Castrol, BMW, Pepsi and Adidas.
Ricky Ponting – the richest Aussie on the revised list – recently paid $20 million for a six-bedroom mansion in the ultra-exclusive Melbourne suburb of Toorak.
Property features include wrought iron staircases, marble kitchen counters, a luxurious swimming pool and tennis court.
He and wife Rianna also own another seven-bedroom mansion in nearby Brighton, reportedly bought for $9.2 million in 2013, in addition to their $3.5 million “weekend getaway” in Portsea on the Mornington Peninsula.
The former Aussie skipper made a fortune in the Indian Premier League playing for Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians.
