Well. 2 USC Beach Volleyball passes the No. 14 Panthers

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. The second-ranked USC beach volleyball team (12-1) defeated tournament host No. 14 Florida International (7-5) 3-2 in the Trojans’ third singles match at the Surf & Turf Invitational in South Beach on Saturday, March 18.

USC scored three doubles before FIU won at No. 3 and No. 5 to make it a 3-2 final. All matches were direct results.

In position No. 4, freshmanDelaney Karland graduateAshlyn Rasnick-Popekicked things off with a 21-18, 21-11 win over Serah O’Keefe and Chloe Zacca. The Trojans went up 2-0 when the graduate wonMadison Shieldsand a freshmanMadison WhiteAgainst Zuzanna Bielak and Roberta Ribeiro 21-17, 21-18.

The anchor point came from the Supreme Court, where the twin seniorsAudrey NourseandNicole Nourseimproved to 72-13 all-time with a 21-15, 21-14 win over Rachele Mancinelli and Milica Vukobrat. The twins’ 85 games played together now ranks third all-time among USC couples (Sophie Bukovec-Alexa Strange, 2015-16). They also become the second and third Trojans in program history to play in all five positions in the lineup.Haley Hallgren(2018-21) andNicolette Martin(2014–17).

After the dual ended, Florida International scored two of its dual points, winning third and fifth. By three, juniorDelaynie Mapleand a freshmanGabby Walkerlost to Giada Bianchi and Lisa Luin 21-18, 21-17. And in the doubles five, FIU’s Emily Meyer and Alice Pratesi beat the USC graduate duoJenna Johnsonand a freshmanMaby Thomas24-22, 21-17.

The Trojans close out play at the Surf & Turf Invitational with a matchup against North Florida at 4:30 PM ET (1:30 PM PT).
