Women’s Rowing Sweep MIT Opens Spring Slate

Boston The Boston University women’s rowing team opened the spring leg of its 2022-23 campaign with a dual meet against Patriot League foe MIT, taking all three events Saturday (March 25) on the Charles River.

Varsity 4 started the day with all three Terrier crews beating MIT’s lone boat. “A” crew, steered Valeria Lizarraga Ramirez and stroked past Hanna look, took first place with a time of 7:42.8. “B” boat, steered Kennedy Walker and stroked past Brianna Swartz, got silver in 7:49.6. The “C” crew steered Alex Aravides and stroked past Ally Blank8:13.3 for third place.

In the 2V8 competition, the terriers won Trisha Jaggi and stroked past Tiara Hicks, bolted from the pole boat and held a full-length lead after only a minute of racing. BU finished comfortably first in 6:46.4, nearly 30 seconds ahead of the Engineers.

The V8 crew steered Audrey Lucerne and stroked past Susan Cookopened up a lead of just over a length at MIT in the first 1,000 meters and finished the track with a strong finish for first place in 7:22.1, more than four seconds ahead of his opponent.

BU is idle before hosting Dartmouth on the Charles River on Saturday (April 8), the second of three home contests.
