Minnesota Football Recruiting: Canadian WR Dallas Sims commits to Gophers

Head coach PJ Fleck and others. have gone north of the border to make another commitment, taking a verbal pledge from Dallas Sims on Saturday. He is originally from Canada but is enrolled at Clearwater Academy International in Florida.

Sims has been used primarily as a slot receiver in high school, so it’s hard to gauge his ability to create separation in the scrimmage. But when he gets full steam ahead, he quickly has a defensive back on their heels. Sims has good breakaway speed down the field, but is also a smooth route runner who can often escape coverage with his suddenness. I don’t have a good feel for his catch radius, but on film he flashes his ability to get catches off his body and in traffic. The Sims team loves to attack the edge of the defense with his speed, often directing him into the backfield with jet screens. Hell, bring some promising talent to Minnesota.
