Guyana’s under-19 boys team consisting of Jonathan Van Lange, Krystian Sahadeo, Colin Wong and Umar Percival had to settle for silver at the ongoing Junior Caribbean Table Tennis Championships at the National Gymnasium on Mandela Avenue.
Despite Van Lange’s spirited effort, Guyana lost the final on Wednesday afternoon to the mighty Dominican Republic 0-3.
Van Lange took the talented Ramon Villa to a five-set match, but lost in a swing 2-3.
An added silver lining is that they qualified for the Junior Pan American Games.

Both under-15 teams finished behind the Dominican Republic and Trinidad and Tobago, while the under-19 girls medaled with the Dominican Republic, Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago.
The competition, which now moves to singles and doubles categories, ends on April 2.
