INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – For the second time this season, the Cleveland State women’s tennis team has won Horizon League weekly awards, as Oihane Vicario was named Singles Player of the Week and Bethany Yauch and Sima Heren were named Doubles Team of the Week.
Vicario is picking up his second weekly honor of the season, while Yauch and Heren also earn their second weekly honors.
Last time out, the Vikings picked up a 6-1 win over Dayton to finish the offseason portion of their schedule with a 9-6 record.
In singles, Vicario led the Vikings at the top of the lineup and beat the Flyers 7-6(5), 6-2. With the win, Vicario is now 8-7 this spring and played all 15 games in the No. 1 spot.
Yauch and Heren led Cleveland State in doubles play with a 6-3 victory over Dayton at No. 1, helping the Vikings earn an early doubleheader. The duo now has a team-best 10-5 overall record this year, including a 9-5 mark at No. 1 doubles this spring.
