Six Cowgirls collect All-America honors

WATER WITHOUT POWER – The NCEA announced its All-America teams for the 2022-23 season Thursday afternoon, with six different Oklahoma State riders earning seven nominations.

Riley Hogan and Sydney North was named second-team All-Americans in Fences, while Emma Pacy was an honorable mention. Claire McDowall and Jojo Roberson earned spots on the All-America second team in equestrian, and Quincee Clarkalong with Roberson, was named an honorable mention All-American in Reining.

This year’s additions bring OSU’s total to 73 All-Americans under a head coach in program history. Larry Sanchez. The seven selections are the most in a single season since 2016-17, when the Cowgirls also had seven All-Americans.

This is Roberson’s third straight season earning All-America honors, as he has been named honorable mention and second team in the riding competition the past two years. This is the first time he has earned the honor for Reining. The senior is 8-4 in Horsemanship with a team-best four MOPs and 9-3 in Reining on the season.

North is making his second appearance as an All-American after earning honorable mention honors in 2019-2020. The senior used a late surge to earn a nomination, going 10-4 on the year, including a 7-1 mark with three MOPs in the spring.

Hogan has established himself as one of OSU’s most reliable riders, earning his first All-America nod. The sophomore is 11-3 on the season at Fences with three MOP awards and is now 17-5 in her first two seasons as a Cowgirl.

McDowall has been solid for the Cowgirls all season, posting a 9-2-1 record to earn her first All-America selection. Before falling by one point in the Big 12 semifinals against Baylor, McDowall had not lost since October. She would return in the Big 12 final against TCU to help the Cowgirls win their third straight Big 12 Conference Championship.

Pacyna earns an honorable mention at Fences for the second time in her career, along with her 2020-21 honor. The senior has quietly put together one of the strongest seasons in the nation, finishing 10-2 with a MOP against Baylor in October.

Clark built off a successful freshman season a year ago by dominating the Cowgirls this year, earning her All-America honors for the first time in her career. The sophomore is 8-2-2 on the season with two wins at the Big 12 Championship in preparation for nationals.

Oklahoma State is fresh off its third consecutive Big 12 Conference Championship this past weekend in Stillwater. Now, the Cowgirls turn their attention to Ocala, Florida, where they will look to defend their NCEA title from 13-15. April.
