HIGH POINT, NC VMI’s track and field teams continued their outdoor competition with outstanding honors on the first day of the VertKlasse Meet hosted by High Point University in High Point, North Carolina.
Senior Andrew Granger achieved a personal best of 57.39 meters in the hammer throw and finished ninth overall. Hunter Davis threw a personal best shot put 14.01 meters in 24th place.
Kevin Linko came in 11th place in the pole vault with a height of 4.27 meters.
The trio of athletes performed well in the steeplechase, incl Nicholas Ligday (20th, 10:06.50), Andrew Hirneinen (21st day, 10:08.37) and Craig Swain (22nd, 10:31.86).
Trent Whittaker led the way for VMI in the 1,500 meters with an 11th-place finish in 3:54.11, and fellow senior Stephen Kelley ran a personal best time of 4:08.60 for the event.
VMI continues competition on Saturday for the second day of the Vertklasse Meeting in High Point, North Carolina.
