Utah State Track & Field wraps up this weekend in California

Stanford, California The Utah State men’s and women’s track and field teams wrapped up their weekend in California by competing in the second day of the Stanford Invitational on Saturday.

The Aggies continued to rewrite the record books as a junior Djamillah Paepke-Chile improved to a career-best mark in the javelin, which is eighth all-time at USU. Paepke-Chile finished second overall in the competition with a result of 44.24 meters (145-1). Freshman Paige Lila Berg also finished 18th with 30.79 meters (101-0).

Senior Tori Bailey competed in the women’s discus invitational final, finishing seventh with a score of 45.93 meters (150-8). In the varsity finals, senior Dolly Gabri finished 11th with 40.18 meters (131-10) as a freshman Milly Garren finished 15th with 37.65 meters (123-6).

Junior on the men’s side Gavin Beierle finished eighth in the shot put finals with a score of 16.95 meters (55-7.50). Junior in the university finals Brandon Ovington finished in the top five and placed fourth with a mark of 16.22 meters (53-2.75). Second year student Nate Franz finished ninth with a mark of 15.23 meters (49-11.75).

Utah State men’s and women’s track and field head home to Utah for a pair next weekend. The Aggies will compete in the Weber State Open on Friday, April 7 before the Utah Spring Classic on Saturday, April 8.
