Through the first 36 holes of the Western Illinois Invite, the South Dakota Coyotes topped the leaderboard after first-day rounds of 300 and 289. A second-round 289 was the team’s lowest score on Monday. The Coyotes share the lead with St. Thomas at 21 through two rounds. Seniors Hunter Rebrovich and Ben Hicks are in the top five individually led by Rebrovich.
Rebrovich carded rounds of 72 and 70 on Monday at TPC Deere Run. He had a team-high six birdies on the day, with four coming on the second trip around the course. Rebrovich’s even-par score through 36 holes is a personal tie.
Hicks posted rounds of 74 and 71 on the first day of action. He made five birdies during the day, three of which came in the second round. Hicks started his second round with three birdies in the first four holes. His three even days have him in a tie for fifth place going into the third round tomorrow.
Max Schmidtke and Logan Despicable finished the first day tied for 18th place individually. Schmidtke had rounds of 78 and 73, while Hamak had rounds of 76 and 75. Schmidtke’s one birdie of the day came on the par-five second hole. Hamak had three birdies, two of which came in the second round.
Bryce Hammer recorded rounds of 81 and 79 on Monday. Hammer carded birdies in the first round on the par-5 10th hole and in the second round on the par-5 second hole. His 18 overs are tied for his 50th personally.
Danny Renner completed his first rounds of the spring with scores of 78 and 80. His two birdies on the day both came in the first round. Renner is tied for 41st place after two rounds of play.
The third round starts tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. from Silvis, Illinois. The last round starts with a shotgun start.
