NDSU Mens Golf fits into the middle pack after the first day of the Redhawk Invitational

TACOMA, Wash. North Dakota State men’s golf opened the Redhawk Invitational at Chambers Bay Golf Course on Monday, sitting after two rounds. Bison started strong and was fourth after the first lap, but finished 11thth as a whole headed for the last day.

Brock Winter leads the Bison’s way after 36 holes and is tied at 22n.d overall +3. Winter opened the day with an even-par 71. Winter finished the day with a 74 in the second round, which was the Bison’s best score of the afternoon session. Winter ended the day with seven birdies, four of them in the first round.

Nate Adams led the way for NDSU early, opening with a -2 round of 69. However, Adams finished the afternoon with a +6 round to finish at +4, one shot behind Winter in a tie for 29.th. Like Winter, Adams also had four birdies in the opening round. He ended the day with six.

Gavin Cronkhite is third for the Bison with 49th 96 golfers on the course. Cronkhite opened with a 74 and added a 75 in the second round to remain at +7. Cronkhite had a total of five birdies, including three in the first round.

Nate Deziel and Ian Simonich ended the day for the Bison. Deziel’s 75 in the second round capped the Bison’s scoring runs as a team. Deziel shot a 78 in the first round and is tied for 75thth at +11 Deziel had four of his five birdies in the second round. Simonich finished the first round with a 76 and added a 78 in the second round. He is tied for 82ndn.d at +12.

The Bison are scheduled to wrap up the event on Tuesday with the third and final round at Chambers Bay. NDSU will begin teeing off between holes 9-11 at 10 a.m. CT.
