Bechard, Rymarcsuk named CCIW Student Athletes of the Week

NAPERVILLE Augustana freshman Elena Bechard and Illinois Wesleyan sophomore Lizzie Rymarcsuk are the recipients of the Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) College Conference Student-Athlete of the Week award in women’s lacrosse, the league announced Tuesday afternoon.

Now a two-time CCIW Student-Athlete of the Week in 2023, Bechard scored 11 goals on 23 shots last week to help the Vikings to two wins last week. The Minooka, Ill., native had four goals and two more assists in last Tuesday’s 18-2 win at Spalding. Just two days later, Bechard scored seven assists as Augie dispatched Franklin 20-10.

Bechard also recorded six draws and four caused turnovers as the Vikings improved to 5-3 on the season.

Rymarcsuk recorded the shutout last Friday, stopping 20 of 32 shots as Illinois Wesleyan beat Wisconsin-River Falls 17-12. His 20 saves were the third most in a single game in IWU history and the third most in the CCIW this spring. He also led the Titans with four ground balls in the win against the Falcons.
