OSU Track & Field wraps up a busy weekend with several impressive performances in Arizona

TUCSON, Ariz. Oklahoma State Outdoor Track and Field wrapped up the third day of the Jim Click Shootout in Tucson, Ariz., on Saturday, with five event winners and several athletes achieving personal bests.

OSU finished fourth on the women’s side with 82 points and fifth on the men’s side with 59.50 points. At the end of the weekend, the winnings were distributed to the entire meeting. Bailey Golden earned the Cowgirls their first win of the weekend with a program-record victory in the heptathlon on Friday.

OSU’s 4×400-meter relay teams destroyed the field, each taking home the win with top-10 performances in program history. The Cowgirl quartet of Ansley Scott, Tamara Woodley, Tori Ortiz and Yasmine Johnson took first place and scored five team points for the Cowgirls. Their winning time of 3:37.84 ranks them tenth in OSU history.

Meanwhile, the Cowboys finished the day with a win in the same event with a time of 3:05.88. Charlie BartholomewEJ Berry, Cash Merutka and DJ McArthur took the top spot, and their performances ranked third in program history.

Blair Anderson made his season debut for the Cowboys and scored 10 points in the team competition after taking home an individual victory in the long jump. Anderson has the longest jump of any active Cowboys, and his leap of 7.75m puts him on the OSU podium for the second longest jump in program history, the best effort since Jacob Fincham-Dukes’ 8.00m leap at the NCAA Championships in 2019. .

Pole vaulter Ariadni Adamopoulou secured her first win of the outdoor season with a jump of 4.05 meters on her first attempt. For the reigning Big 12 Indoor champion, this is Adamopoulou’s third event win of the year, spanning the indoor and outdoor seasons. OSU outdoor freshman Sarah Stair also contributed to the Cowgirls scoring with a 3.75m performance.

In the throwing arena, freshman Rachel Neaves continued her strong debut campaign with a throw of 58.90 meters in the hammer throw. Neaves’ performance is a personal best and the fourth-best throw in OSU history. Hannah Bradford also performed well on the day, contributing to OSU’s point total with performances in the hammer and discus. for men, Sam Mason scored a goal in the hammer throw with a throw of 57.78 meters.

The Cowgirls scored 15 points in the 800 meter run, highlighted by Michaela Travers taking home the top spot with a time of 2:09.07. With the win, Travers earned her first individual victory in the 800m and her second podium of the outdoor season, spanning multiple events. Freshman Ava Honore scored five points for OSU as she finished fourth in a personal-best outdoor time of 2:11.59.

In the men’s 400 meters, four Cowboys finished in the top five, giving OSU 23 points. Bartholomew led the way and finished second overall with a time of 46.42. McArthur, Merutka and Justin Long followed Bartholomew to fill out the rest of the top five with McArthur at a career best.

In the javelin, Micalah Millard set a new personal best with a throw of 45.40 meters, the fourth-longest throw in OSU history, while giving the Cowgirls four points. for men, Nate Nuthman and Crayton Shaw performed 53.68 and 47.59 meters for the Cowboys.

The Cowboys and Cowgirls now prepare for next week’s multi-meet weekend, where they will be split into four separate meets from coast to coast on the 13th-15th. April.
