The Wildcats will take on the Primetime Challenge at Western Intercollegiate

SANTA CRUZ, California No. 16 Arizona Mens’ Golf returns to action in its final tournament before postseason competition as it participates in the nationally televised Western Intercollegiate beginning Monday, April 10 on the Golf Channel. The Wildcats’ participation in this year’s field at Pasatiemon Golf Course marks the seventh time in nine seasons that the team has played in the marquee event.

“We are honored to play in this elite event that has grown into one of the top tournaments in college golf,” said the head coach. Jim Anderson. “Pasatiempo is a challenging field that brings out the best in players, and it’s an opportunity that our guys are excited about. This is a high-level competitive environment for us and helps our guys prepare for the Pac-12. The championships are just an hour away in a couple of weeks.”

The format of the Western Intercollegiate competition follows the NCAA Championships, with six players receiving the top five results. Six Arizona players will attend Santa Cruz this week Chase Sienkiewicz, Chaz Aurilia, Sam Sommerhauser, Tiger Christensen, Zach Pollo and Filip Jakubcik. Sienkiewicz finished in the top five at the event a year ago, marking the Wildcat’s best finish in the history of the storied event.

Arizona is one of six Pac-12 programs in the field at 76^th annual Western Intercollegiate and one of seven teams ranked in the top 35 nationally by GolfStat. Pasatiempo Golf Course is 40 kilometers from Stanford Golf Course, the site of the 2023 Pac-12 Championships starting on Friday, April 28.

The three-day tournament kicks off a busy week for the Wildcats, who travel to Phoenix immediately after the final round on Wednesday. The team will participate in the ASU Thunderbird Collegiate beginning Friday, April 14 at the Papago Golf Club.
