No. 30 men’s tennis defeats the Dutch 9-0

TROY, NY – Five different student-athletes had two victories as the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men’s tennis team defeated Union College 9-0 in Liberty League competition at the Sharp Courts. The No. 30 Engineers improve to 7-5 and 3-1 overall in the conference, while the Dutchmen fall to 4-7 and 2-3.

RPI won three doubles matches, dropping just seven total games, including an 8-1 victory at No. 3. Max Safanov and Bryce Burnham.

Abraham Yohanneswhich joined Igor Visnevskyat No. 2 doubles (8-2), led the home team to a 4-0 lead and won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles before Visnevskij won the match 6-1, 6-2 at No. 6 singles.

Two singles went into the third with RPI Andy Zhu winning 1-6, 6-4, 10-7 with number 2 and Jonathan McMillan won 3-6, 6-2, 10-6 at number 5.
