ADRIANA DIAZ READY TO DEFEND TEMELIT IN SANTIAGO 2023

The 22-year-old table tennis star is already a three-time gold medalist at the continents premier multi-sport event and looks poised to add to her impressive resume at the Pan American Games in October.

At Lima 2019, Adriana Diaz represented Puerto Rico with passion and excellence, winning an incredible three gold medals and an additional bronze in women’s table tennis events at just 18 years old. This gave her five career medals at the Pan American Games, including her first bronze, won at Toronto 2015 in the women’s team event.

Now 22, Adriana looks set to dominate her competition again in October in the Chilean capital when the Pan American Games return.

She will likely compete in every possible event, including singles, doubles, team and mixed doubles, and a trip to the podium is a strong possibility in each event.

Despite his age, Diaz is already a three-time Pan Am Games champion, a six-time Central American and Caribbean Games champion, and an eight-time continental champion.

Adriana is currently ranked 18th in the world for women’s table tennis in November 2022, up to 11. She is the only American women’s table tennis player to be ranked in the top 20, which she shares with her male counterpart. Brazilian Hugo Calderano is currently ranked sixth in the world.

These two great athletes are both determined to defend the gold medals they earned in Lima 2019. Adriana has already qualified for 2023 Santiago thanks to Puerto Rico’s performance at the 2023 Caribbean Championships in Georgetown, Guyana. Calderano has also qualified after Brazil’s strong showing at the 2022 Pan American Championship, also held in Santiago, Chile.

Adriana Diaz is one of the many young and rising stars in the sport of table tennis competing at the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games in October, but all eyes will be on her as she looks to defend the multiple titles earned at Lima 2019.
