The NDSU women continue to compete at Azusa Pacific, Long Beach State

AZUSA, Calif. Strong performances in the 5,000-meter run and javelin highlighted the efforts of the North Dakota State women’s track and field team Friday in a dual meet in Southern California.

Second year student Reagan Baesler set a new 5,000-meter personal best at the Bryan Clay Invitational with a time of 16:43.55 to rank seventh on the NDSU all-time list.

Kaleesa Houston ran 16:51.51 for the second-fastest outdoor 5,000 meters of his career. He is ninth on NDSU’s all-time list.

Hayley Schmidt threw a personal-best double in the javelin on Friday at the Beach Invitational, finishing third in the meet with a new PR of 149-0 (45.42m) to rank ninth in NDSU history. Bison freshman Alex Seagris finished sixth with a throw of 146-4 (44.61 m).

Merrideth Spiers threw a season-best 173-4 (52.85m) in the hammer at the Beach Invitational.

A pair of Bison freshmen set personal bests in the 800 meters at the Bryan Clay Invitational. Kate LeBlanc run 2:14.42 and Aleah Miller finished in 2:14.91. Second year student Grace link ran 2:12.80 in the 800m and was the second fastest time of his career.

The competition ends on Saturday with both meetings.
