Complete Moto2 and Moto3 race results

The 14-lap Moto3 race kicked off Sunday’s Grand Prix and was a thrilling thriller.

Angeluss MTA rider Ivan Ortola took the checkered flag to claim his maiden Moto3 victory after the 18-year-old Spaniard survived a massive scare going through Turn 2 on the opening lap.

As Intact GP Husqvarna rider Ayumu Sasaki passed Leopard Honda sideman Jaume Masia for the lead, Ortola touched the curb on the way to the right of Turn 2 and was almost ejected from his KTM.

After completing the first lap in 18th, Ortola launched a spectacular attack that saw him take the lead at turn 12 in the final lap as MT Helmets KTM rider Diogo Moreira ran wide.

Ortola held tight through the final corners and took the first win in Moto3 for both himself and the Angeluss MTA team.

He beat Masia by 0.457s, who briefly held the lead in the closing stages before being forced off the track at Turn 13 when Sasaki crashed out of first on Lap 12.

Masia dropped 1.5 seconds to the lead of the race, but fought back to grab second-last corner from Prustel GPs Xavi Artigas.

Moreira was denied a podium finish by 0.009 seconds when Masia and Artigas passed him in the final corner, with Tech3 KTM’s Dani Holgado and Ajo KTM’s Deniz Oncu rounding out the top six.

The top 10 was completed by CIP KTMs David Salvador, Aspar GASGAS duo David Alonso and Ryusei Yamanaka and Ajos Jose Antonio Rueda.

Sasaki rejoined after his crash, but retired to the pit shortly afterwards.

Holgado now leads the championship series by 49 points from Moreira and Artigas by 17 points.

Ajo KTMs Pedro Acosta registered his second win of the 2023 Moto2 season after passing Marc VDS’s Tony Arbolino on the final lap.

Acosta got the holeshot from second on the grid but was overtaken by Speed ​​Ups’ Alonso Lopez with a bold move at Turn 2 in the opening lap.

Arbolino was quickly dislodged by the drive driver and led the field for the opening few laps, but the Spaniard dropped to fourth when he hit the wrong neutral at turn 12.

Acosta then joined Arbolino in breaking away as the pair ran back-to-back for much of the second half of the GP.

Acosta made his decisive move for the lead at Turn 12 on the final lap, holding off the Marc VDS rider to take the checkered flag first.

Bo Bendsneyder took his first Moto2 podium for SAG Team in third place, beating Gresini duo Jeremy Alcoba and Filip Salac.

Speed ​​Up duo Fermin Aldeguer and Alonso Lopez followed with Pons Aron Canet, Poles Celestino Vietti (Fantic Racing) and Yamaha VR46 Master Camps Manuel Gonzales.

Aspars Jake Dixon was due to start sixth but crashed on the warm-up lap.

Arbolino continues to lead the championship, seven points ahead of Acosta.
