Ohio State football offensive coordinator Brian Hartline was hospitalized in a crash at his property

COLUMBUS, Ohio Ohio State football offensive coordinator Brian Hartline was hospitalized Sunday following an accident on his property near Powell.

According to Tracy Whited a Delaware County Sheriff’s Office spokesman, the emergency number came at around 01:20 and reported the crash of a Polaris commercial vehicle. The injuries were considered so serious that Hartline and another man in the vehicle were taken by ambulance to Riverside Methodist Hospital.

Whited did not immediately know the identity of the other person involved in the crash. Ohio State said in a statement that the other man involved in the crash was a friend of the Hartlines who is not affiliated with the university. It said Hartline hopes to be released from the hospital later Sunday night.

NBC4 first told about the details of the accident. Information about Hartline’s injuries or their extent or the incident is not yet available.

Whited said sheriff’s deputies will continue their investigation Sunday.

I appreciate everyone’s (sic) support, Hartline wrote on Twitter. I crashed into my property side by side and have been taken to hospital for further tests. I feel well.

Hartline was promoted to offensive coordinator in January after five seasons on the staff, establishing him as one of the top receivers coaches in the nation. A Buckeye alum, he returned to the program as a graduate assistant in 2017.

Hartline was a part of four consecutive Big Ten championship teams as a player and played in the 2006 and 07 BCS national championship games. He then had a seven-year NFL career, six with the Miami Dolphins and one with the Browns.

Ohio State played its spring game on Saturday afternoon, and Hartline called to play the offense.
