Damar Hamlin was cleared to resume football activities after suffering a cardiac arrest in January

Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin has been cleared to resume football activities, the team’s general manager said Tuesday.

Hamlin entered cardiac arrest after making a tackle in the first quarter of the Bills’ game against the Cincinnati Bengals on 2 January.

According to the team, the 25-year-old has been at Buffalo’s practice facility participating in voluntary offseason workouts this week.

He’s completely cleared, Bills general manager Brandon Beane told reporters. He is here.

Beane said that Hamlin had seen three separate specialists during the offseason, all of whom agreed that the player was clearly on the way back to normal like anyone coming back from injury.

“(Hamlins) in a great head position to come back and come back,” Beane added.

Bills head coach Sean McDermott said the team is happy to have Hamlin back.

We were very excited for Damar. Here he goes one step at a time. He’s cleared from a physical standpoint, McDermott said.

Cardiac arrests are caused by electrical disturbances that cause the heart to suddenly beat as it should.

When you have a situation like this, where someone is in cardiac arrest, you have to find out: was there an underlying cardiac abnormality? CNN chief medical correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta said Tuesday.

If the answer is no, Gupta added, this is basically a rare case, but there is currently nothing to suggest it. [Hamlins] the likelihood of this happening again is higher than in the rest of the population.
