Hockey players discuss the ice rink left out of the Frank Ocean performance

The hosts claimed they were due to appear on stage with Ocean, real name Christopher Breaux, after being recommended by talent scout Chris Nelson. Before his Hollywood breakthrough, Nelson played for the New Jersey Devils.

Dan said that he and several dozen skaters had been practicing for the show for almost a month. We have been with Frank. We’re hanging out with other skaters. Hang with these hanging figure skates. Going through this whole process is this huge ordeal, he explained.

The director also said that rehearsals continued until the Tuesday before Coachella, but noticed that the wheels started to fall off when pick-up and play time for wardrobe and make-up was moved up several times.

We arrive at this hotel and were told to be there by 12 noon. Then you get a text that the runners aren’t coming until 1pm, said Dan.

Chris added: Then it was 2.15pm Then 3pm

When the pair arrived at the designated area, Dan says it was a nightmare.

In this hotel we come across figure skaters. Remember the Olympic figure skaters, with a disgruntled look on their face. And they mention to us that they’ve been cut from the show, Dan said.

He added: “We’re starting to hear rumblings that Frank has been involved in an accident which has left him with an ankle injury.” So people say the Franks are not in a good place and don’t know what’s going on. And we sat there and it became clear that things were not going well with this show,

The hosts claim they were told the ice surface of the stage was being scraped, but were asked to appear on stage in costume. The two refused.

To be honest, we both know how show business works in a lot of ways, Chris said. The production is messed up in everything, all the time, but I will say it was a worthwhile experience if it had been done right. But I would say that the participants had a lot of time to sink in.

He continued, [Frank] really care about production. He had a very clear vision, and even though that vision changed a lot, he was always on our side. Help us. Making sure everyone hit what they had in mind.

But Chris criticized Ocean, saying: “It didn’t so much break down and he said, Oh no. He actively said I don’t want to do this anymore. Those figure skaters were cut not because of the ice problem. Not because anything went wrong. There was no malfunction. He was frankly, screw this. I’m not doing this again.’

A fan streaming the entire Oceans Coachella performance, Morgan Lee, told Pitchfork that he saw a giant round object on the stage covered with a black tarp and on top of it several black objects that might have been an ice rink. I can’t confirm that they melted anything or that what I saw was a rink, but if there was an ice rink it would have been there at the back of the stage, he said.
