BCCI will not send cricket teams to the continental event

Men and women Indian cricket teams is not part of the future Asian Games 2023Bhupender Bajwa, Chef of the Indian Subcontinent Meeting, has confirmed.

The Asian Games will be held in Hangzhou, China from September 23 to October 8 this year.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said the schedule for the men’s and women’s teams had already been confirmed, so the subcontinent would not participate in the event.

We have registrations in all sports except one cricket (team) is not going,” Bhupender Bajwa told Indian Express. They said they were worried. We sent them three-four emails (BCCI) but when we had to send the competitions to the organizers, they said they are not going.

According to the Future Tours Program (FTP). Indian women’s cricket team is scheduled to play in South Africa and New Zealand in limited overs series during the season. The men’s team will compete in the ODI World Cup at home from 5 October to 19 November.

Cricket made its debut at the Asian Games in 2010 and was included in the 2014 edition. However, India skipped both the editions. The sport was dropped from the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta and has returned to the Games in Hangzhou.

However, Indian cricket teams have been part of the Commonwealth Games. BCCI qualified for the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Recently, the Indian women’s cricket team won a silver medal at the Commonwealth Games 2022 held in Birmingham, England.
