Women’s track and field won the Bucknell Team Challenge and set two school records

LEWISBURG, Pa.- The Bucknell Bison women’s track and field team dominated the Bucknell Team Challenge, winning the meet with 227 points to a far cry from second-place Army’s 72 points. The Orange & Blue won nine events and set two school records in the high jump and the 4×100 meter dash. relay. It was senior day and the Bison celebrated all the graduating athletes who accomplished so much in the program. A big thank you to all the student-athletes.

“This was an excellent match for both teams,” said the head coach Kevin Donner. “I thought we had the right attitude with the windy weather the day before and the rainy weather we had after the lightning delay. The two women’s school records are huge (Hull in the high jump and the 4x100m relay). Boyce also set the old record in the high jump. Tereska continues to impress in the javelin and I expect her score to get her into the NCAA East Preliminary and the same goes for Hull in the high jump.”

It was a banner day for the Bison jumpers. Karen Hull set the school record in the high jump with a leap of 5-8 3/4, breaking the previous mark set by a teammate in 2023. Abby Kates. Olivia Boyce tied the old record of 5-7 3/4. Hull and Boyce added 10 and 8 points to the Bison’s coffers. Madeline Lehker placed fifth and added two points with his jump of 4-11 3/4.

4×100 meter relay “A” team Bridget Lalonde, Meghan Quinn, Leela Gaughanand Karen Hull again broke the school record in the event. They clocked a time of 46.32 to win the event and earn 10 points for the team.

Brylee Tereska added another layer to his impressive rookie campaign by winning the javelin. His throw of 151-0 gave Bucknell 10 points and ranked him seventh in Bucknell history. Riley Beebe, a senior, contributed to the veteran by contributing four points from his fourth-place finish. His throw was 126-3. Phoebe Blumberg reached the point for his sixth place 119-10.

Mia Bellucci won gold in the 3000m and contributed 10 points to the Bison effort. His time of 9:55.31 not only won the event, but tied for eighth all-time in Bucknell history. Kate Amaddio finished second and added eight points to the team total with his time of 10:09.89. Keeley Misutka two points and a fifth place time of 10:19.26.

In the 400-meter run, three Bison runners earned points. Katherine Lowe won the event and 10 points with a time of 57.12. Colleen Linko achieved third place and six points with a time of 57.80. Mackenzie Turner earned sixth place and one point with a speed of 59.23.

Three athletes landed in the top five in the shot put. Siobhan O’Sullivan won gold and 10 points with a throw of 44-2. Christine Drive earned bronze and six points with a throw of 40-5. Avery Rebar took fourth and four points with a mark of 39-2 1/4.

Meghan Quinn offered his second career first place in the 100 meters. The junior sprinter earned 10 points with a time of 12:06. Leela Gaughan took sixth place and one point with a time of 12.73.

Ally Clarke won the 3000m steeplechase and 10 points for the team with a time of 10:57.89. Tori Chase took sixth and a point with a time of 12:09.40.

Mariana Engelby brought gold in the 1500 meter run. The junior runner clocked 4:44.69 and earned 10 points.

Jumpers produced more points in the long jump. Karen Hull led the way with his second-place finish, adding eight more points to the Bison’s lead. His jump reached 17-10 3/4. Leela Gaughan placed fourth with a jump of 17-4 3/4, giving the team four points. Madison Libby placed fifth with a leap of 17-1 1/4, giving the Bison two points. Abby Eisold rounded out the Bison scorers and gave the team one point in the sixth at 17-1 1/4.

Three runners got points in the 800 meter race. Caryn Rippey earned second place and eight points with a time of 2:16.69. Abby Paczewski took fifth and two points in 2:17.83. Hollie Walters sixth and a point for his time of 2:18.38.

Jessie Castellano and Bridget Lalonde placed second and third in the 200m. Castellano’s time of 25.04 gave the Bison eight points. Lalonde’s mark of 25.19 brought six points to Bison Treasure Cove.

Two Bison hit the hammer throw. Madison McGloin got second place and eight points with a throw of 160-1. Anne Glenning finished fifth and scored two points in a 150-11 run.

Karen Hull continued his sensational day by netting second and eight points in the 100m hurdles in 14.99. Emily Grubb added one point to the cause thanks to his sixth place. The junior ran in 15.34.

Five Bison scored points in the 400-meter hurdles. Ella Derstine placed as high as second and scored eight points with a time of 1:04.65. Maddy Hippensteal placed third and six points in 1:05.23. Alison Cooke took fourth and four points with a speed of 1:06.38. Mikayla Horváth’s a time of 1.06.51 placed fifth and offered two points. Abigail Dunne was the final scorer, grabbing sixth and one point in 1:06.76.

Karly Renn and Jennifer Scott took third place in the pole vault with a difference of 11-5 3/4. Both performers brought home four points.

Lexi Gray fifth place and two points in the triple jump, 36-9.

Isabelle Roes finished fifth in the discus throw. His surge of 125-10 earned the Bison two points.

The Bison will compete next weekend at the Penn Relays and the Maroon and Gold Invitational.
