Iowa State is hosting a spring football game

AMES, Iowa Iowa State held its spring football game Saturday at MidAmerican Energy Field in Jack Trice Stadium.

The game was an offense vs. defense format, and each side could earn points from various winning situations, such as scoring plays, forced turnovers, and other big plays as determined by the coaching staff.

The offense outscored the defense with a 54-35 win.

Jirehl Brock returned to the field after sitting out the end of last season due to injury. He carried the ball a team-high 11 times for 47 yards and a touchdown. So Sanders and rookie Arlen Harris Jr. also rushed for a touchdown each.

Hunter Deckers and Rocco Becht each completed 11 passes for 101 yards and 112 yards. Becht and JJ Kohl both scored.

Tight end Andrew Keller led receiving effort with five catches for 44 yards and a touchdown. Gabe Burkle also hauled in a touchdown reception.

Treyveon McGee and Cam Smith led the defense with five tackles. Caleb Bacon, Ralph of the fence and Johnny Wilson each held about a sack Malik Verdon also recorded a loss.

Prior to the game, Iowa State retroactively revealed the uniforms it will wear in the Jack Trice Legacy Game presented by Nationwide on Saturday, Oct. 7, when it hosts TCU in the stadium that bears his name.
