“Don’t let success get to your head”: Naseem Shah’s father advised his son

“My only advice to him is that he never lets success go to his head and meets everyone with love and respect,” Abbas told SAMAA TV.

Naseem’s family is praying for the entire team; Abbas said, “We are praying for the whole team. What a time if Nassem does well but Pakistan ends up losing the match.

Naseem Shah revealed that growing up, his father had never been in favor of playing cricket and without his mother, he wouldn’t have made it.

“My father never gave us money. Because he knew we would use it to buy a ribbon or a ball. The mother on the other side gave us money to buy the ball, but it was a secret. Agar wo supports Nahi karte toh shayad cricket Nahi Khel paata (Without my mother I wouldn’t have played cricket), Naseem said.

Naseem’s father admitted that it only happened when they visited Lahore and a random guy praised his son’s bowling.

“When we came to Lahore and the academy. We asked one boy standing there, what are you doing here? He said there’s a boy and I’m waiting here to see him bowl. Then I realized he’s got it in him,” Abbas said.
