The Eagles celebrate Senior Day in the last game of the season

The 2023 season concluded Sunday (April 23) for Eastern Washington men’s tennis. The team hosted Weber State at Jim Thorpe Fieldhouse, falling 6-1 in the final game of the season. Eastern finishes the season with a 4-13 overall record and 0-7 in the conference. The Wildcats finished the season 12-9 on the year and 5-2 in the conference.

Before the match, Itä was honored as a senior Bruno Ortega when he played his final two games for the Eagles.

Eastern opened winning two out of three doubles matches to secure the first point of the match. Ortega and Drew Dillon dominated Connor Kruger and William Zulch and won 6-2. Brady Thomas and Erik Sarlvik As a partner, he beat Jordan Coutinho and Matteo Savio 6-4.

Weber St. then swept the singles matches to earn the win. Ortega fought for the ranking against number 5 William Zulch and won the first set 6-2. A back-and-forth battle in the second set went to Zulchi, 7-5. Ortega was down 3-10 in the third set.
