Holy Name, Rio Claro in the West Girls Open cricket final

Holy Name Convent and Rio Claro West Secondary meet in the final of the Powergen/Secondary Shools Cricket League Girls Open.

At the HKL Aranguez Sports Ground on Monday, Holy Name Convent comprehensively defeated St George’s College by ten points.

First, St George’s were restricted to 72 for eight in their 20 overs.

In reply, Holy Name ran to the finish and finished on 73 for no loss in 11 overs.

At the Powergen Ground in Penal, Rio Claro West edged out Iere High School by six points in a tight 10-over contest.

Iere High posted a challenging 80 for four from the overs allotted to them.

In reply, Rio Claro West used all sixty balls to get over the line and ended up with a score of 81 for four.

In the semi-finals: Rio Claro West beat Barrackpore East by seven points; Iere High crushed Carapichaima West by 52 runs after a strong all-round performance from Mercedes Timothy (67 not out and three wickets); Holy Name Convent beat Scarborough Secondary by nine wickets led by Zakiyah Harrilal (24 not out), Eva Nicholas (3/10) and Jessica Davis (3/16) and Charlotte Mack (2/16).

St George’s stayed to say hello.
