No. 8 Lafayette advances to Patriot League women’s tennis quarterfinals (4:27:23)

WEST POINT, NY No. 8 Lafayette defeated No. 9 Holy Cross 4-0 in the first round of the 2023 Patriot League Women’s Tennis Championship Thursday at the Malek Tennis Center.

The Leopards earned the first point of the match with two wins in the doubleheader. At No. 1, Lafayettes Alyssa Perdomo and Eleanore Campbell defeated Holy Cross’ Ashley Zilora and Jasmine Rahmanan 6-4, while Carmen Merkel and Emma Menkowitz won 6-4 in doubles against Crusaders Maddie Hamm and Lindsay. Riordan.

Campbell was leading 6-3, 1-0 against Lafayettes Hamm before the match was suspended to give the Leopards a 2-0 lead. Lafayette extended its lead to 3-0 when Perdomo took down Ahana Nagarkatti on the first court (6-0, 6-3).

Melanie Sparhawk sealed the victory for Lafayette with a 6-1, 6-1 win over No. 4 seed Caroline Fredey.
