Another Michigan football safety enters the NCAA transfer portal

Michigan football unexpectedly drops two safety levels this offseason.

As for the defensive backfield, the Wolverines have a significant amount of depth at safety. Starters Rod Moore and Makari Paige return, with up-and-comers Keon Sabb and Zeke Berry waiting in the wings. But fellow starter RJ Moten unexpectedly left the program earlier this week after entering the transfer portal. Now there is a different upward trend.

According to On3, second-year defensive end Damani Dent, who came to Ann Arbor via Jacksonville, Florida and is looking for another opportunity, will join Moten on the NCAA transfer portal.

Dent did not see a game in 2022 as he was reportedly injured. He has four full years at his next destination. When recruited, Dent was a three-star prospect with a 778 overall grade according to the 247Sports composite.

Michigan football has lost four players through the transfer portal this week, as Dent and Moten join wide receiver AJ Henning and linebacker Nikhai Hill-Green (who committed to Charlotte immediately after entering) in leaving the program.
