Duo named AVCA All-Americans – Stanford University Athletics

STANFORD, California Will Rottman and Justin Lui is tab AVCA All-Americans, announced today by the American Volleyball Coaches Association.

Rottman was named to the second team, while Lui landed on the honorable mention list. Both receive recognition for the second time in their careers. Stanford now has 76 All-America honors all-time.

After earning first-team honors in 2022, Rottman becomes the 17thth The Cardinal player is a multiple AVCA First or Second Team All-American, the first since Evan Enriques (2016, 2018).

A native of Santa Barbara, Rottman led the team with 3.67 kills and 4.26 points per set. A three-time All-MPSF selection, she is third in the conference in kills per set and fourth in aces (0.36) and points per set. She led the team in kills 16 times and had 20+ kills six times. The senior hit .300 or better in 11 games in 2023. In three MPSF tournament games, she posted 4.33 kills with a .319 hitting percentage, 1.58 digs, 0.67 aces and 5.29 points per set to lead the Cardinal.

A redshirt senior from Pickering, Ontario, Canada, Lui led the MPSF with 2.10 digs per set, ranking 12th nationally. A three-time MPSF Defensive Player of the Week in 2023, the libero reached double figures in eight games, including a career-high 19 against UC Santa Barbara (Jan. 14). A two-time All-MPSF selection, she finishes her career fourth in program history in rally scoring era with 2.12 digs per set and fifth with 698 digs.

The pair earned 2023 MPSF All-Tournament Team honors after leading the Cardinal back to the conference finals in back-to-back seasons for the first time in program history.
