(CNN) Paris Saint Germain has been suspended Lionel Messi according to a club source, for two weeks after the Argentine’s unauthorized trip away from the team to attend to personal matters.

CNN has reached out Messi representatives to comment.

The source said Mess missed Monday’s practice to attend promotions outside of France. According to several reports, Messi is in Saudi Arabia.

Along with undated photos of Messi relaxing with his family, Saudi Tourism Minister Ahmed Al Khateeb tweeted on Monday: “Delighted to welcome #Messi and his family to Saudi Arabia to enjoy magical tourist destinations and authentic experiences.

“We hope guests from all over the world will experience a unique trip to Saudi Arabia and its hospitality.”

Messi himself posted on Instagram four days ago a campaign for Saudi Arabia tourism: “Who would have thought that there is so much green in Saudi? I love to explore its unexpected wonders whenever I can. #visitsaudi.”

PSG face Troyes and Ajaccio in the next two weeks.

Seven-time Ballon D’or winner PSG lost 3-1 at home to Lorient on Sunday but remained top of the Ligue 1 table.

Messi’s contract with PSG ends 30 June 2023, and his reported trip to Saudi Arabia comes amid several reports that the 35-year-old will not stay at the Parisian club.
