Stand set for the 2023 Cricket SIAC Baseball Championship

ALBANY, GA (May 4, 2023) The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) has announced the lineups for the 2023 Cricket SIAC Baseball Championship Tournament, which will return to Albany, Ga. starting with four games on ASU’s west campus on Thursday, May 4 in first-round games.

The tournament opens with defending conference champion Spring Hill, which finished the regular season 25-7 and enters the tournament ranked No. 3. They face No. 6 Edward Waters (16-13) at 9 a.m. Savannah State (25-7) follows at 12 p.m., facing No. 7 Lane ( 13-16). At 3:00 p.m., this year’s regular season champion Albany State (30-2) will take on No. 8 Tuskegee (11-21). The opening round ends with No. 5 Kentucky State (16-13) vs. No. 4 Miles (19-12) at 6 p.m.

Friday will feature three games played at ASU’s West Campus and Sherwood Christian Academies baseball fields. Game times are scheduled for 10 a.m., 2 p.m., and 6 p.m. The advanced and non-advanced teams from Games 1 and 2 will advance to Games 5 and 7, which will be played on Friday at 10 a.m. The advanced and unadvanced teams from Games 3 and 4 will continue in Games 6 and 8, which will be played on Friday at 2 p.m. Games 9 and 10 will feature advancing teams from Games 5 and 6 and non-advancing teams from Games 7 and 8.

The trio matches are scheduled to be played on Saturday, May 6.

The teams advancing from Games 7-10 will open the 2023 Cricket SIAC Baseball Championship with Day 3 games at 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. The final game of the day will feature the loser of Game 11 facing the winner of Game 12 at 6 p.m.

The champion will be crowned at the 2023 Cricket SIAC Baseball Championship game on Sunday, May 7 at 1:00 p.m.
