An indoor ping pong venue is coming to Murray Hill

MIDTOWN, NY Ping pong is taking over New York.

PingPod“a futuristic table tennis-on-demand concept,” is opening a new location in Murray Hill on East 27th Street between Bellevue South Park and First Avenue.

These Pingpods are self-contained ping pong rooms that players can access at any time of the day via an app, providing another late-night option in the city that never sleeps.

Inside, players will find a table, paddles and balls. The facility also has a ping pong table, bathroom, sound system, WiFi, drinks and snacks.

PingPod opened its first location on the Lower East Side in 2020 and has rapidly expanded to Astoria, the Upper East Side, Midtown on West 38th Street, Williamsburg, New Jersey, and Philadelphia.

The company is also planning new locations on the Upper West Side, downtown Brooklyn and another location on the Upper East Side, according to its website.

The table tennis “pod” street-level facilities, which can be rented online for 30-minute slots, are open 24/7 and staffed only by a morning cleaning crew.

According to the company, for security reasons, the locations are monitored by video 24/7.
Reservations can be made to the company application and rates range from $15 to $50 per hour, according to PingPod website.

Last year, the company raised $10 million in venture capital In an investment round led by Sequoia Heritage, according to Crain’s New York.
