Goa Challengers have roped in five-time Olympian Elena Timina and Parag Agrawal as franchise coaches for the upcoming Ultimate Table Tennis (UTT) series, which will be held from 13 to 30 July.
The league’s coaching draft was held in Mumbai, with six franchises selecting their coaches – a combination of one Indian and one foreign coach from among the pool of talent.
Vivek Bhargava, owner of Goa Challengers, felt that the season has started well for them with their selections in the coach’s draft. The draft was wonderful for us. We have two of our best coaches,” Bhargava said.
The UTT Season 4 Coach Draft was attended by UTT Assistant Promoters Niraj Bajaj and Vita Dani along with the team owners who made their first strategic move of the season by selecting the coaches. The draft began by determining the order of selection or the order in which each team would draw a numbered ball (1-6) from the bag for round 1. The order reversed for round 2.
When the coaches are lined up, the teams can start preparing for the UTT season 4 player draft to be held at the beginning of next month. The franchise-based league is promoted by Bajaj and Dani under the Indian Table Tennis Association. The upcoming season of the league will be played at the Balewadi Sports Complex in Pune.
