USC football recruiting: Anquon Fegans, No. 1 safety and top-10 prospect in Class of 2025, commits

USC received a commitment from one of the most touted prospects in the 2025 class on Sunday when safety Anquon Fegans announced his commitment for the Trojans. Fegans is ranked No. 1 in the class and No. 1 overall by 247Sports. He chose USC from an offer list that included some of the top programs in the country.

A native of Alabaster, Alabama, Fegans is the younger brother of former Alabama defensive back Trequon Fagans, who also committed to USC on Sunday as a transfer. Fagans, a senior, redshirted last season with the Crimson Tide, ranking as a four-star prospect in the 2022 class.

Anquon Fagans still has two seasons of high school football left, but he impressed early in his career at Thompson High School while playing a key role in a program that has won four straight state championships. He collected 67 tackles and nine interceptions in 2022 after playing significantly as a freshman as well.

A good-looking safety prospect who already has valuable experience under his belt, earning varsity snaps as a freshman for the Alabama 7A state champions. Well built at 6-foot-1, 180 pounds, but nowhere near max, and could end up at 200 pounds or more when you lift in college. Used mostly as a deep safety early in prep career, but has also doubled as a nickel back in certain situations. He tends to hold his own in man-to-man coverage and has shown he can jump routes in 7-on-7 play in the offseason. Fairly serviceable as an open field tackler and seems to understand that the lower man wins more often than not. Competing on special teams and should provide value in both kick and punt coverage at his college of choice. You have to continue to learn and develop as a player, but the ability to quickly read and diagnose and then settle into the game is very promising. Could eventually move closer to the line of scrimmage depending on how his body fills out, but has most of the skills required to become a multi-year contributor at a top 25 program.

Feagns is the first commitment in USC’s 2025 class.
