Aduru was selected as the UAA Men’s Tennis Athlete of the Week

Case Western Reserve University junior Vishwa Aduru was named the University Athletic Association Men’s Tennis Athlete of the Week after leading the top-ranked Spartans to a pair of wins and a berth in the NCAA Division III quarterfinals last weekend.

Aduru ended the weekend with a 2-0 win. 1 double (with James Hopper) and a 1-0 record at no. 2 singles. During Saturday’s 5-0 second-round win over Kalamazoo, he and Hopper defeated Gabe Vidinas and Peter Fitzgerald 8-1, and later he pinned Fitzgerald in singles 6-2, 6-0. 5-1 in victory 14th-placed in the third round of Denison on Sunday, Aduru and Hopper won 8-3 against Jack Bulger and Kael Shah and Aduru led the regional 11.th-placed Bulger 7-6 (4), 5-1, when the game was stopped due to a decision.

Aduru, which is ranked first in the region in doubles and 14thth in singles, improved to 18-7 in singles and 28-4 in doubles this season. This was Aduru’s second UAA Athlete of the Week honor this season and the second of his career.

The Spartans earned their third straight NCAA quarterfinal appearance and improved to 30-4 on the season after two tournament wins. CWRU will meet on the 13thth-ranked Gustavus Adolphus in the NCAA Division III quarterfinals Saturday, May 13 at 9:00 a.m.
