Women’s tennis country four student-athletes on the CSC Academic All-District Team

AUSTIN, Texas Ole Miss women’s tennis placed four on the College Sports Communicators All-District Team. CSC, formerly CoSIDA, announced the 2023 Academic All-District Women’s Tennis Teams on Tuesday.

This is the first time all four have earned Academic All-District honors in their careers. The Rebels team includes sophomore Ludmila Kareisova, a junior Reka Zadori and seniors Lillian Gabrielsen and Kelsey Mize. The team earned the honor after meeting the criteria of achieving a cumulative grade point average of over 3.50 while being a starter or key reserve on the team.

Kareisova completed her second No. 1 course and amassed a record of 16-12 in singles and 14-13 in doubles. The Czech also led the team with seven ranking wins, including an all-time high against the nation’s 21st-ranked player. He was also 7-3 in SEC play with a 6-0 start. The second-year student rose in the ranking all the way to no. 46 and qualified for the NCAA Singles Championship starting on May 22. Kareisova also earned academic accolades, as the OM foundation chose her as the student athlete of the month in the fall, majoring in exercise science.

Zador had a career year, leading the team with 22 singles wins. He made an impact at the bottom of the lineup, posting a 9-3 record at No. 6 singles and a combined 15-5 doubles record in his final three singles positions. The Szeged, Hungary native cruised to victory at the SEC Championships with two singles victories to help the Rebels reach the quarterfinals for the first time since 2018. The junior was also named to the SEC Community Service Team.

Gabrielsen was a huge contributor in both singles and doubles. The senior went 18-4 in singles and 15-13 in doubles, both career highs. Playing both No. 2 and No. 3 singles for the first time, she compiled a 10-8 dual record. After going 9-3 at No. 2 doubles and defeating the No. 60 doubles team, Gabrielsen moved into No. 1 doubles. Gabrielsen excels off the court as well, with three straight seasons on the Chancellor’s Honor Roll. Gabrielsen plans to graduate this month with a degree in political science.

Mize joined Gabrielsen in doubles for the same 15-13 record and three doubles victories. The senior defeated two ranked doubles opponents at the SEC Championships, guiding Ole Miss to two doubles finishes and a quarterfinal berth. He also collected an 11-9 singles record this season. Mize plans to graduate with a degree in finance next year.

Academic All-District honorees qualify for CSC Academic All-America voting. First, second and third team Academic All-America honors will be announced June 1.
