The inclement weather in the forecast is causing a change

The Colorado High School Activities Association has postponed the first day of the Girls Tennis Individual State Championships due to inclement weather and heavy rain in the forecast. The WC was supposed to start on Thursday.

Thursday’s play is rained out, so each tournament starts at multiple locations on Friday and ends at one of three locations on Saturday.

The 4A tournament will be played at Pueblo City Park and Pueblo South High School on Friday. All games will conclude at Pueblo City Park on Saturday.

Durango High School qualified for state with six places in the top two regions. Ellie Davenport and Adwyn Chowen qualified at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, while Juliet DiGiacomo/Ellie McLean, Lola Bradshaw/Sydney Pritchard and Rachel Ager/Avery Edgar all qualified at No. 1, 2 and 3 doubles.

The 5A championships will be split between Denver City Park, Denver South High School and Denver Tennis Park on Friday before concluding at Denver City Park on Saturday.

The 3A championships will be held at Memorial Park and Cheyenne Mountain High School in Colorado Springs on Friday. The entire tournament returns to Memorial Park on Saturday for the final day of play.
