The Crookston Pirate Boys tennis team defeated the East Grand Forks Green Wave 5-2 in a dual in East Grand Forks on a warm and sunny Thursday afternoon.
Crookston won all three doubles matches and won two of the four singles matches.
Singles
Isaac Thomforde continues to rack up wins at first singles as he cruises to a 6-0, 6-1 win. Reggie Winjum also continued his winning ways, winning second singles 6-3, 6-1. East Grand Forks won at third singles as Nolan Mulebrock won, and Ryan McMahon of East Grand Forks won at fourth singles to get a 2-2 split.
DOUBLE
Crookston’s three doubles teams won competitive matches at all three spots and came away with the big wins they needed. Nathan Kelly and Tatum Lubinski won a hard fought match 6-3, 6-4. At second doubles, Grant Funk and Gunnar Groven won the closest match of the day 7-5 with a first-set win, and they held on to win the second set 6-4. The third doubles team of Elliot Bartrum and Jack Everett won the first set 6-4 and cruised to a 6-1 victory in the second set.
